What is Floreo?
Floreo is a virtual reality (VR) therapy tool that helps neurodiverse children practice social, communication, and life skills in a safe virtual world, then use those skills in real life. Lessons were developed with clinicians, therapists, engineers, and neurodiverse people, and are built on research. Floreo is designed for learners of any age and ability, and our clinic uses it as part of therapy with our pediatric patients.
How it works
Children step into an immersive virtual scene, such as a community outing or an imaginative-play activity, and practice a specific skill at their own pace. Each lesson can be repeated as often as needed, so a child can build confidence before trying the skill in everyday settings.
Floreo works with common technology: a smartphone with a simple cardboard-style viewer, or a standalone VR headset. Lessons can be used in the office or, with a therapist's guidance, over telehealth. The lesson library keeps growing, so therapists can choose activities that match each child's goals.
How we use Floreo with our patients
We offer Floreo to our pediatric patients, including children with ADHD, autism, and other developmental and behavioral needs. Our care team selects lessons that fit each child's goals and guides them through each session, so the VR practice supports the therapy plan rather than replacing it. Parents are welcome to ask how Floreo might fit into their child's care.
